About the Author
Blog PostI have recently been back playing poker and have been extremely successful. I was able to move up limits quickly starting with a small bankroll and moved up to over $2000. I was moving right along and back to limits where you can make good money, nibs, and raked hands for your team. Everything was great. Then something terrible happened. No i didnt play poorly and donk off all my chips. No i didnt get bad beat like crazy. A friend of mine mother passed away less then two months from seeing her daughther be married. She died of cancer. Not to make myself out to be a saint or anything like that. But I do feel that I am very fortunate and that I was in a position where I could do something good and help a friend in need not just by being there but also financially. I decided to cash out all my bankroll except for the bonus I was receiving from PI for the previous weeks play. This money will go towards cancer research as well as to help the family whereever it can be best used. I think that anyone can do something like this with our winnings. I know that many players have. Last year a friend of PI went through a similar difficult situation and many players on PI stepped up to help. Any winning poker player has the potential to do something great with their winnings and I urge you to do so. It will be one of the greatest experiences of your life knowing that made a difference. And you can. Everyone of you can!!. So I am grinding it out at the lower limits micro levels and playing freerolls and micro buy in tournaments and I have never felt better about it. Current bankroll - $88.95 - playing in the blog freeroll, cashing somewhere in the $1 freezout. I will keep everyone posted next month in the blog challenge with how I am doing. Please post stories of how you have been able to help someone else with poker. Commenting closed for this blog post. Comments (3)
